I love photographing detail shots at weddings. When I am looking for inspiration and ideas of shot layouts I start with finding the light. Ideal light for me is not strong bright light, but rather soft, filtered and natural. It is almost like building a puzzle. You first find the light. Next you need a prop and backdrop to make the shot interesting. I want the viewer to be drawn in by the beauty and details of the image. When choosing the shot composition I look for unique and interesting backgrounds and foregrounds to shape the image. This image was taken on the table using the wedding cake as a backdrop. By incorporating elements of the wedding I feel it makes your images more personal and important. I want my couples to relive these great moments when they look back at their images. This was inside the reception venue of Salsa Heat Dance Studio. I used a video light to compliment the natural light coming through the doors. I love how the video light makes the backdrop glisten and shine. Using the macro lens will also help bring out the detail of the subject. Stephanie and Nelson have chosen remarkable and gorgeous wedding rings.
